Art for Cure was originally designed to be a one-off event. After the hugely successful events in 2014 and 2016, which both raised six figure sums, the organisers Belinda Gray and Sally Ball have decided to do it again in 2018 and hope to raise an even larger sum for their chosen charity Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
.

I am really pleased to have been invited back to such a prestigious event.  With over 80 artists and sculptors, works will be a specially curated selection of nationally renowned artists exhibited in the magnificent house and grounds of Glemham Hall, Suffolk.
.

The event kicks off with a special preview night and charity auction on the Friday night. The auctioneers are still to be announced but in 2016 they managed to get the services of Ed Sheerhan and Judy Dench, not sure how they will follow that line-up.

Sculpture at Doddington Hall Simon Hempsell tulip sculpture

.

I am delighted to have been invited back to exhibit at the fourth biennial fine outdoor and indoor sculpture exhibition at Doddington Hall near Lincoln.
.

An exciting, inspiring and beautiful array of sculptures from across the UK and Europe. With Doddington Hall as a backdrop, the walled gardens, romantic wild gardens and the parkland beyond are the perfect foil for sculpture along with the large indoor gallery in The Stable Yard hosting a ceramics exhibition.

The exhibitions curator, David Waghorne has carefully selected national and international sculptors to complement each area and to provide an eclectic exhibition to suit all tastes, styles and budgets, with almost every piece for sale.

.

I will be exhibiting a number of pieces, ‘The Tulip’ which has been placed in stunning setting at the edge of the lawn surrounded by ferns. I’ve also installed my latest piece ‘Samarkand’ which is flanked by a rather imposing old marble statue and a planting of Wild Clematis seedheads.

The Unusual Plant Fair

The Fair on Sunday 2nd September is a great event with stalls set up around the gardens. It’s a chance to by that unusual plant from one of the stalls or one of your favourites from the garden, available from the garden shop. As well as plant stalls, there are a number of artists stalls displaying work to compliment the planting in your garden. The Fair opens at 11am and is well worth a trip.

Garden Sculptures at Sussex Prairie Garden

.

Last year I had the pleasure of exhibiting at Prairie Gardens so I’m  thrilled to have been invited back for 2017. It was my favorite location last year, making several visits it was great to see the gardens change with the seasons and to sample the fabulous cakes. The gardens are stunning, well worth a visit.
.
I will be installing my Cow Parsley, Sandpipers and Sheep sculptures with the swathes of swaying grasses forming the perfect backdrop for our sculptures. Can’t wait to see them on a summers afternoon with the warm hues of the rusted finish glowing in the sun and perhaps a glass of wine or two.
.
Sculpture is an integral part of the gardens and has been sympathetically installed to further enhance the naturalistic planting. The gardens near Henfield, West Sussex were created by Pauline and Paul McBride. Surrounded by mature oaks, the six acre garden has a series of arched borders with impressive drifts of plants in soft muted colors which contrasts leaf forms, stems, stalks, flower shapes and textures. The borders encourage exploration and adventure and visitors are welcome to roam along tiny paths in amongst the mighty plants and sculptures to further enjoy the experience.

Set in the grounds of Bothy Vineyard, Oxfords oldest vineyard, I will be exhibiting my Deer Sculptures. Visitors will be able to wander through the vines and winery to admire a huge range of sculptures set amongst vines in full fruit.
.

Bothy Vineyard continues an ancient tradition of wine making in the Vale of the White Horse dating back at least to medieval times. Tending and picking is done by hand and the wine is made with minimal intervention. The excellent micro-climate, warm sandy soils, long ripening season and mature vines produce wines of consistent depth and quality which have won many awards.
.
Looking forward to installation day !
